Searching for and Registering a Domain

Registering a domain at Maxinames takes a few minutes. This guide walks you through searching for an available name, comparing TLDs, and completing your first registration.

Search for a domain

1. Open the domain search page.
2. Type the name you want — with or without an extension. The results show availability across the most common TLDs (.com, .net, .org, .io, .co, and more) along with the price for the first year.
3. If your top choice is taken, the suggestions panel offers close variants and alternative TLDs that are available right now.

Choose the right TLD

If the .com is available, register it — .com still wins for trust and recall. If not, consider:

• A country-code TLD that matches your market (.co.uk, .de, .com.tr).
• A category-fit new TLD (.io and .ai for tech, .shop for retail, .studio for agencies).
• Avoiding extensions that look like a hack (.biz, .info) unless you have a specific reason.

Complete the registration

1. Click Register next to your chosen domain.
2. Pick a registration period — 1 to 10 years. Longer periods are slightly cheaper per year and protect you from forgetting to renew.
3. Add WHOIS privacy at the cart step. It is free and shields your personal contact details from public WHOIS lookups.
4. Complete checkout. Your domain is active within minutes.

What happens next

You will receive a confirmation email and the domain appears under My Domains in your dashboard. From there you can manage DNS, nameservers, contact info, and renewal settings.
