How We Handle Your Privacy
What personal data Maxinames collects, why, who we share it with, retention windows, and your rights as a user.
Our Privacy Policy describes the personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and your rights. This article is the plain-English summary; the binding text lives at maxinames.com/privacy.
What we collect
- Account details — name, address, phone, email, tax/VAT number where required.
- Billing details — payment method tokens (we never store full card numbers; those go to PCI-compliant payment processors).
- Service data — domain registrations, hosting account configuration, support tickets.
- Technical logs — IP addresses, user agents, and timestamps for security and debugging.
Why we collect it
- To provide and bill for the services you order.
- To meet ICANN and registry requirements (for domain registrations).
- To protect our network and your account from abuse.
- To send service-related emails (renewals, security notices, support replies). We do not send marketing without explicit opt-in.
Who we share it with
- Domain registries — for domain registrations, your contact details are passed to the registry as required.
- Payment processors — to process payments. They handle card data; we do not see it.
- Service providers — companies we use for email delivery, error tracking, etc., bound by data-processing agreements.
- Authorities — when required by law (court order, regulatory requirement).
We never sell your personal data.
How long we keep it
- Active account data: as long as your account is open.
- Billing records: 7 years (statutory retention).
- Server logs: 90 days unless needed for an active investigation.
- Closed accounts: minimal data retained for legal and audit purposes.
Your rights
You can:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data from your dashboard or by contacting support.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Delete your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
